Börger Launches FlowSep to Reduce Abrasive Wear in Slurry Systems

In industries that handle slurry—such as wastewater treatment, agriculture, and biogas—abrasive materials like sand, grit, and glass are a constant challenge. These particles can severely damage pumps, pipelines, and other equipment, leading to costly maintenance and downtime.

To address this issue, Börger has introduced its FlowSep separation system, designed to remove harmful particles before they can cause wear.

FlowSep works alongside Börger’s Bioselect Separator, forming a closed and odour-free system that efficiently separates fine abrasive materials from the liquid stream. One of its key strengths is its ability to extract up to 90% of unwanted particles, significantly reducing the risk of damage to critical components.

By eliminating these materials early in the process, FlowSep helps protect:

  • Pumps and valves
  • Pipelines and storage systems
  • Tankers and digesters

This results in longer equipment lifespan, reduced maintenance costs, and improved operational efficiency.

Another advantage is improved material handling. The separation process produces stackable solid output, making it easier to transport and store, while also reducing overall storage volume requirements.

Despite its powerful performance, FlowSep is designed to be compact and easy to install, with the ability to be retrofitted into existing systems. It can also handle throughput rates of up to 100 m³/h, making it suitable for high-capacity operations.

Overall, Börger’s FlowSep demonstrates how smart separation technology can prevent wear at the source, helping industries maintain reliability, reduce costs, and improve system performance in demanding slurry applications.
